PAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr Manjit Singh Kang, who was the chief guest on the occasion, hailed the performances put up by the students and said such activities helped in overall personality development. He urged them to endeavour for excellence in their academic activities also.
According to Dr P.K.Gupta, Dean, College of Agricultural Engineering, many activities under “Vertex 2008” were held including Quiz, Tractor-Driving Competition, Model Presentation, Tug of War, Secret Mission, Graffiti, a session of Mock Interview and Engineering Quiz. A kabaddi match was also played by students of the College of Agricultural Engineering that Dr Kang and other dignitaries watched. The event showcased the horizon where profession and recreation met.
In the “Engineers’ Nite,” a variety of events dedicated to the life of Dr Randhawa were staged which included portrayal of glimpses of Dr Randhawa’s life through a slide-show, enactment of a play, music and other creative items. The programme was a blend of folk, musical and dance items. The choreography entitled “Colours of Bollywood” demonstrated the creativity of students which drew huge appreciation.
Proposing his vote of thanks, Dr C.J.S. Pannu mentioned that the audience comprised farm engineers, old alumni of the college hailing from various corporate, public sectors and institutions in different parts of the country. Corporate members of the ISAE Chapter, representatives of tractor industry, engineers, scientists and students also participated.
