Chandigarh Students, teachers and literary organisations held a peace rally at the Students’ Centre on Monday with a view to improve people-to-people contact between India and Pakistan.

The rally was part of a campaign, launched by Yuvsatta, to collect thousands of signatures from 50 cities across India to establish peace between the two nations. Professor Sukhdev Singh, general secretary, Punjabi Sahit Academy, Ludhiana, said: “It is painful to know that India has refused a visa to Madiha Gohar’s theatre due to ‘security’ purposes. This is the second time that the Indian government has refused visa.”

Promod Sharma, coordinator, Yuvsatta, said: “All the signatures collected from various parts of the country will be submitted to the Prime Minister of India on February 8.”
