UT Home Secretary Krishan Mohan said that the decision has been taken to inculcate good hobbies, nurture talent and interest in extracurricular activities among students. The classes will commence from April.
The trainers will also help the Education Department in initiating activity and fun-based learning. Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Society, UT have invited applications for employment of skilled persons desirous of working with children for imparting vocational orientation and employable skills in the areas of instrumental music including tabla, guitar, violin, flute and vocal music.
Crafts and skills trainers will teach the art of making clay toys, paper flowers, chalk, candle, decorative items, handmade paper, fancy carry bags, envelopes, gift boxes, fancy lights, dolls, soft toys, chutneys, jams and murrabas, water colouring, flower decoration, oil painting, macremine and bead work, stitching, embroidery, knitting, bookbinding, hair dressing, canning of cots and chairs, glass painting, textile painting/ printing, tile painting, tie and dye, dyeing, mehandi.
Trainers will also teach bee keeping, aquaculture, growing of mushrooms, vegetables, raising nurseries, seed farming, floriculture, cut vegetable marketing, leather work, clock/watch repair, wood polishing, household linen and upholstery, glass etching, glass embossing and plumbing jobs electronic items, radio/ transistors, TV/DVD, bakery and confectionary services
The education department will also impart service skills in data entry, commercial cleaning operations, courier services, laundry and dry cleaning, bricklaying and plastering, marble, tile laying and fabrication, book account keeping.
Arts include fine arts, sculpture, painting, animation, printmaking would also be taught.
