The incident took place today at around 10 am when the employees and advocates were entering the Court. The victims were given first aid in the court dispensary and some of the advocates were rushed to General Hospital, Sector 16, in a PCR by the Police officials.
“I was making tea for my customers when the incident took place. All of a sudden, I heard shouts and people running around. Before I could realise, I also got stung by honey bees,” said Sarwan, a tea vendor.
Shiv Munshi, one of the advocates who was stung, told Newsline that the incident took place near the parking lot when he was parking his vehicle in the morning.
Luckily, there were no serious injuries to any one. Those who were rushed to GH-16 were also discharged after being given first aid.
It might be recalled that the Municipal Corporation had constituted a committee to tackle the problem of bees after a junior engineer with the Municipal Committee, Chandigarh, had died after being stung by honey bees at the PGI on February 27.
The deceased, Ashok Bhandari, a close relative of former Mayor Anu Chatrath, was a resident of Sector 26.
