Lucknow The Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) demanded a white paper from Chief Minister Mayawati regarding the amount of donation received by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on her birthday.

“Mayawati herself has claimed that the donations received were double than that of the last year. So, the people of the state have the right to know from where and how much donation the chief minister has received,” UPCC president Rita Bahuguna Joshi said on Friday.

She condemned Mayawati’s statement in which the chief minister has said that if she wanted, her party could observe Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s birthday as Gulami Diwas.

Joshi said Congress, with the help of an NGO, will file a PIL in the High Court demanding a CBI probe into the killing of PWD executive engineer M K Gupta in Auraiya on December 23.

“It’s pathetic to see the wife of the slain engineer seeking security for her family. It clearly shows the engineer’s family was living in constant fear, as they were being terrorised by BSP goons,” she added.

Accusing the state government of making false announcements on Mayawati’s birthday, Joshi said on January 15, 2008, the chief minister had announced a 4,000 MW ultra mega power project at Lalitpur.

“But after a year, even a MoU has not been signed. Similarly, last year, an announcement was made for setting up a 200-bed super-specialty hospital at Greater Noida. But nothing has happened yet,” the Congress leader said.
