Sule Guruji and Anjuman I-Islam enter semis

Mumbai, February 7 IES V N Sule Guruji and Anjuman I-Islam (Urdu) become the first two teams to enter the semi-finals, winning their quarter finals encounters against IES Digambar Patkar and Hansraj Morarji respectively in the boys under-17 Boost Cup Inter-Schools cricket tournament, at the Cross Maidan, here on Thursday.

While Sule Guruji won by 4 wickets, Anjuman were victors by 5 wickets.

Winning the toss and electing to bat IES Digambar Patkar were bowled out for 188 in 41.2 Overs, left arm spinner Pranav Rane grabbing 5 for 33. Manish Pawar with a knock of 65 from 75 balls and Shreyas Tandel with 34 did the bulk of scoring for IES Digambar.

Sule Guruji began their run chase in grand fashion, openers Akshay Dani and Akash Dharankar putting on 106 runs for the first wicket.

The fall of Dharamkar’s wicket saw their run chase falter as right arm spin Amol Gagh took three quick wickets but no. 6 batsmen Adish Vaidya steadied the innings and guided his team to victory.

Brief scores: IES Digambar Patkar, 188 all out in 41.2 overs (Manish PAwar 65, Shreyas Tandel 34, Pranav Rane (LAS) 5 for 33 in 9 Overs) lost to I E S V. N. Sule Guruji, 189 for 6 in 40 Overs (Akshay Dani 66 (5x4), Akash Dharankar 49, Amol Gagh (RAS) 3 for 47, Mayuresh Tandel 2 for 21. MOM: Pranav Rane.

Hansraj Morarji, 162 all out in 44.4 Overs (Varun Karkera 51, Jaideep Pardesi 34, Abu Khan (RMP) 3 for 29, Salman Khan (RMP) 2 for 35) lost to Anjuman I-Islam (Urdu), 163 for 9 in 37.2 Overs (Musharaf Khan 59, Mazhaul Haque 34, Shivam Dubey 1 for 28). MOM: Musharaf Khan.
