Kolkata The music CD of Chhtradharer Gaan by Trinamool Congress MP Kabir Suman may not be music to his party, but it means brisk business for the Association for the Protection of Democratic Rights (APDR), which is selling it at its stall in Kolkata Book Fair.

“The stock is almost exhausted. Kabir Suman knows the pulse of the people. We have customers coming to us specially looking for the CD,” said Sudipta Sen, member of APDR.

The CD has been released by Bijalpa, a music company. “We are selling more than 50 copies of the CD everyday,” said the stall-holder of Bijalpa. Significantly, the CD has become a hit among the tribals.

“Many tribals coming from North 24-Paragans were looking for the CD. A tribal asked for 50 copies of the CD. Since we did not have the stock, we took them to the stall of Bijalpa,” said Sen.

Meanwhile, a copy of the CD was recovered from the shelter of Maoists near Jhargram where, according to police, Kishenji stayed for a few days. Police seized a CD of Chhatradharer Gaan along with the SIM card and the laptop Kishenji allegedly used.

Kabir Suman could not be contacted for comments.

“We always welcome this kind of initiative taken by an intellectual like Kabir Suman. We work against the repression of state. So anybody who raises his voice against oppression, we support him,” added Sen.
