Night-time temperatures, however, are still registering low temperatures. The minimum temperature on Sunday was recorded at 12.3 degrees Celsius, normal for time of the season and 2 degrees less than Saturday’s temperature.
The city is also experiencing cold and warm winds throughout the day. The Met Department calls the erratic weather a ‘transition period’ between summers and winters.
“Delhi experiences strong winds around the time it enters summer, created because of the huge difference between the maximum and minimum temperatures,” said the officer on duty at the Safdarjung Meteorological Department, who added that March 1 marks the end of winter and the beginning of summer this year.
The weatherman also forecasts mainly clear skies in the next few days, accompanied by strong winds during the day time, with the maximum temperature hovering around 27 degrees.
The national capital experienced a warmer winter this year, with average temperatures remaining above normal compared to the trend witnessed over the last few years.
