New Delhi, October 11 After price rise and lack of security in the Capital, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), it seems, has struck upon another issue ahead of the Assembly elections later this year: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit’s comments on the mystery death of Headlines Today journalist Soumya Vishwanathan.

Widely seen as insensitive, and that too coming from a woman, party leader Sush Swaraj took on Dikshit on her statement at a symposium on women’s security held on Saturday. “If Sheila-ji feels Soumya was being adventurous returning home at 3 am, then we should ask her what time and which part of the city she thinks is safe for women,” Swaraj said

BJP’s chief ministerial candidate V K Malhotra and state unit chief Dr Harsh Vardhan were among other leaders present at the event.

After Vishwanathan, 26, was found shot dead in her car in the early hours of September 30, Dikshit had said, “All by herself till 3 am at night in a city where people believe — you know — you should not be so adventurous.”

Malhotra said, “We have repeatedly said that full statehood is absolutely necessary for progress of Delhi.”

Swaraj suggested the police post women constables as decoy during night to curb teasing and molestation.
