Chandigarh, March 5 The Punjab & Haryana High Court has refused to allow a petitioner to withdraw his case, suspecting foul play. The petitioner, Advocate Jayender S Chandail, had sought permission to withdraw the order to remove encroachments from the Panchkula District Bar Association. “You seem to have got a permanent chamber. Don’t worry we won’t allow you to withdraw the petition,”Chief Justice Vijender Kumar Jain observed while refusing permission to withdraw the petition. The petition was mired in controversy since the tin sheds constructed by a few advocates in Panchkula were removed by the Haryana Government declaring them as encroachments. The court has now handed over the matter to its Building Committee.

Earlier, the Panchkula Bar had claimed that the Chief Justice had not directed removal of these tin sheds, as had claimed by the DC.
