Chandigarh The Chandigarh Administration is all set to tighten its noose around those officials who have figured in the Central Bureau of Investigation’s ‘Agreed List’. While action has already been taken against four officials, who have completed their tenures, 11 are still under close watch. Among those listed are a senior officer of the UT Health department, a deputy superintendent of the Chandigarh Police, a senior official of the Engineering department and a sub-divisional engineer with the Building and Roads division.

“We keep an eye on the activities of such suspected officers. However, we cannot initiate any action against the officers, till we get concrete evidence. Withdrawal of work or repatriation to their parent cadres, as done recently, are enough indicators for such officers,” said a senior official of the Chandigarh Administration.

What is the ‘Agreed List’?

The ‘Agreed List’, maintained by the CBI in consonance with government departments, includes names of those officials who are under surveillance. The officials’ daily activities, including phone calls, bank accounts and financial transactions, are monitored by the CBI to keep track of their “suspicious actions”. Senior officials of the concerned departments are kept informed of the same. An annual meeting to discuss the list is held between the CBI officials and senior government officials. This year’s meeting is

scheduled in March.
