Mumbai, February 6 Left arm spinner Harmeet Singh’s excellent spell helped Harris Shield Champion Swami Vivekanand International School (Borivali) gain a quarter-final berth after they beat Rizvi Springfiel by 37 runs in the boys under-17 Inter-Schools cricket tournament at the Cross Maidan on Wednesday.

Winning the toss and electing to bat, Swami Vivekanand School did not managed to get a big score; Sandeep Joshi’s 29 and Pratik Gawli’s 22 runs helped Vivekanand School to reach 147 runs in 43.2 overs.

In reply, Rizvi Springfield, Bandra all out in 28.4 overs with 110 runs in board. For Rizvi School Mohammad Shafiq was the top scorer with 25 runs, while nine place batsmen, John Abraham made 24 runs. Vivekanand School’s left arm off break bowler Harmeet Singh took four wickets in 7.4 overs with just 25 runs. Harvinder got good support from Akshay Sawant (2 for 21) and Siddesh Lad (2 for 23).

I ES Raja Shivaji Vidyalaya (Dadar), 145 all out in 43.5 Overs (Parag Gaikwad 45, Suyesh Shelar 25, Siddhanth Vaity (RAS) 5-26) lost to I ES VN Sule Guruji (Dadar) School 148 for 5 in 37.1 Overs (Akshay Dani 27, Akshay Dharankar 43 n.o., Shiv Prakash Jaiswal 37. Parle Tilak English, 248 for 5 in 45 Overs (Rutam Mulay 88, Siddhanth Moolay 75, Pranav Hiwanj 2-44) bt Shiv.Samartha Vidyalaya (Thane), 116 all out in 22.3 Overs (Sandesh More 28, Sushanth Nerulkar 4-32, Advait Bapat 2-36, Gandhar Bhatwadekar 2-16).
