It is learnt that the PSEB rolled back its decision to give power worth Rs 3 crores, which was to be given to HP and J-K on banking basis today, to felicitate relaxation in power cuts.

PSEB offices all across the state had got special instructions on Tuesday evening that today all power cuts would be relaxed. However the consumers were surprised a lot and they continued asking the PSEB complaint offices what was the special occassion today for giving uninterrupted power supply today. Sources revealed that SAD leaders had impressed upon the electricity board to give relaxation of power supply on Wednesday morning, to enable the residents to watch swearing-in ceremony of Sukhbir on TV.

Though PSEB sources confirmed the reason for special relaxation for today, but Chairman, PSEB, H.S Brar, who himself was present at the swearing-in ceremony today afternoon, gave a big laugh, and said, “There is nothing of this sort. Due to rains, our load in agriculture sector has been reduced and hence we passed on this benefit to the consumers. It is just a mere coincidence that ceremony was also scheduled for today.”

Meanwhile, it needs to be mentioned that it is raining since Friday, but there was no relief in power cuts till yesterday and more than five-hour power cuts were being imposed all across the state despite the heavy rains.

The chairman, however, claimed that more relief would be seen in the coming days.
