“Ours is the first bank to implement CBS among the public sector banks. The five-year experience has put us in a superior position and enabled us to introduce several technology-flavoured products like online booking, Internet banking, tele-banking, e-gateway and ATM sharing,” said General Manager K U Vasantha Rao. He said all the 54 branches in the region are now under the CBS networking. As regards expansion plans, Rao said the bank planned to add two ATMs, one each at Bhavnagar and Porbandar, to the existing 25 in the region and open two branches at Amreli and Patan this fiscal. All new branches will have CBS and ATM facilities, he said.
Syndicate Bank notched a 20.8 per cent jump in net profit at Rs 273.19 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2007 as compared to Rs 226.12 crore in the same period last year.
The total income of the bank increased 27.6 per cent at Rs 2,265.63 crore for the quarter under review as against Rs 1,776.03 crore in the corresponding period last year, according to a statement released by the bank.
