Ehsan Patel (40), who had been sentenced to 20 years imprisonment, was confined at the Vadodara Central Jail since October 2008. But on Sunday, after complaining of a severe chest pain, the jail authorities brought him to the SSG Hospital for treatment. Although the jail authorities have denied the charges, Patel's wife suspected foul play behind his death and has demanded for a thorough investigation. “He complained of chest pain around 2 pm and was immediately brought to the SSG hospital where he died at 2.30 pm. He had made no complaints earlier of any major ailment. The body has been sent for postmortem,” said R C Adroja, Assistant Superintendent, Vadodara Central Jail.
