With Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3, the model inches towards a career in Bollywood

A professional model, what made you sign up for Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 3?
The show this season has brought together a host of established names from across industries. It’s interesting to see people like Ugesh Sarcar and Mohinder Amarnath. I’m the only model here and I felt that way I will represent my fraternity. Besides, the show offers an opportunity to reach out to the whole country. Modelling is a very urban and niche profession but with television, audiences of small towns and cities also count.

Have you had any formal training?
I’ve been passionate about dancing ever since my childhood. And though I’ve had no formal training in the art, I’ve always loved to groove. I think I’m pretty good at it too.

How is the training coming along?
I’ve been very busy and very happy with the way things are working out here. After seven weeks of rigorous training, I do feel I’ve accomplished something. The best part is that we learn different dance forms. But what I’m looking forward to the most are salsa, samba and hip-hop; they’re fun to practice.

Are television or cinema future options?
I haven’t thought about television but yes, I will be considering film offers. I am a trained actor — I trained at Anupam Kher’s acting school - and am now ready for the industry. Jhalak already is providing me a pan-India exposure. Thanks to that, I received an offer from a reputed production house just after the first episode. Though this isn’t the first offer I have received, it surely is the first worth considering.

How about your career in fashion?
I prefer to concentrate on one thing at a time. I have already been doing only a handful of shows and am concentrating on Jhalak for now. Post Jhalak, I will decide where my career needs to head.
