Taminder bags gold medal in equestrian contest in R Day camp

Ludhiana, February 6 A Team of Punjab Remount and Veterinary Squadron NCC, commanded by Lt Col Ranbir Singh, has won one gold and one silver medal in tent pegging and show jumping event, during the equestrian competitions at the Republic Day camp.

The camp was held from December 29 to January 28. Cadet Taminder Kaur Kahlon bagged the gold medal, while Under Officer (UO) Jasmine Cheema got the silver medal in tent pegging and show jumping. The team comprised four boys and two girls with five horses in the month-long camp, during which various competitions were held.

Horse riders from all across the country participated in the event. It is for the third successive time that the team bagged the top positions in the national equestrian competitions, at the R Day camps.

Taminder Kaur Kahlon said that she loves horse riding, and will like to pursue it professionally. The team represented the NCC Directorate, Chandigarh, and included SUO Harninder Singh, UO Karan Prabhakar, Cadet Vikramdeep Singh and Cadet Anuj Kumar.

The students were today felicitated by Dr SS Singh, Dean College of Veterinary Sciences, GADVASU, in a ceremony organised by 1 Punjab R&V squadron, Ludhiana. The function was also attended by Col IPS Kohli, Group Commander and Lt Col SS Dhillon of Group HQ, Ludhiana.
