According to hospital authorities Rs five crore has been spent on upgrading and renovating the building.
Dr Suhas Parchure, managing trustee of the hospital told media persons that the hospital has been short-listed under the Health Ministry's Department of Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy to be upgraded under the 'model college' scheme.
The bed strength at the hospital will be increased to 300 and superspecialty OPDs will also be set up, Dr Ramesh Gangal, superintendent of the hospital said.
A family planning and welfare centre has also been set up at the hospital. "We have received grants from Rotary Club of Shivajinagar and Rotary Club of Pune South for installation of cardiac monitor and ECG machines. A total of 1.77 lakh patients availed of treatment at the hospital in 2007-08," said Parchure.
