Kolkata, January 31 The All-India Federation of University College Teachers Organisation (AIFUCTO) will not allow the implementation of the recommendations of the National Knowledge Commission on private investment in university education, general secretary Ashok Barman said on Thursday.

“We are against the way NKC was formed superseding all existing bodies in higher education,” he said. The Left-backed teacher’s union also opposed any change in the regulation of higher education by bodies such as Independent Regulatory Authority on Higher Education.

Barman also said they are studying the recommendations of the Chadda Pay Review Committee formed in 2006. The union wants the committee’s recommendations to be implemented in all the states simultaneously. It is also planning to raise the issue of teaching aids in universities across the state and bringing them under the pay structure recommended by the panel.
