The agitating members demanded the immediate transfer of Bajaj and said that she should be punished.

They also marched towards Bajaj’s residence in Bhai Randhir Singh Nagar.

Addressing the rally, Joginder Azad, Democratic Teachers’ Front said: “We have apprised Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal of Bajaj’s misdeeds.”

He added, “An inquiry had been initiated against Bajaj nearly three months ago, but the report is pending till yet and she has not been transferred.”

Bhajan Singh, also a member of the Democratic Teachers’ Front said: “At a sangat darshan held a few days ago, Harish Rai Dhanda had extended his support to the DEO and said that all issues being faced by the teachers had been resolved, thus worsening the situation. The problems being faced by teachers are not being looked into by the

District Education Office.”

Baldev Singh Mangat, meanwhile, said: “In December, Sudesh Bajaj had issued showcause notices to eight employees of the Education department without any proof. She had also issued chargesheet against these employees, thus harassing them without any reason.”

The various demands of the teachers include releasing the pay commission report, release of salaries on time, not recruiting teachers on a contract basis, among others. They further announced that the Mulajam Sangharsh committee will hold a rally on February 14.
