Lucknow, February 24 The state minister of secondary education, Rang Nath Mishra, is facing revolt from the teachers in the wake of his statement blaming the latter for supporting cheating during examinations.

Irked by Mishra’s plan to get teachers frisked during the board exams, around 92,000 secondary teachers from across the state will launch a campaign from Monday demanding immediate sacking of the minister. The teachers have also decided to boycott the forthcoming board exams, beginning March 4, if the minister is not removed by then.

Mishra, however, said that he has no regrets for making the comment, as he has asked the teachers to do their job properly for which they are being paid by the government.

“Maine unko gali to di nahi, thappar to mara nahi, bas unka dharma yad dilaya hai,” he said. “It is hurting them because they are guilty. Only those interested in politics are not keen to teach,” he added.

Earlier, Mishra had threatened to invoke UPCOCA against teachers caught assisting in unfair means.
