Pune Various areas across the city faced loadshedding for three to four hours on Friday due to a fault in the 400 KV Chandrapur- Parli line. S P Nagtilak, chief engineer of the Pune division of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), said that emergency loadshedding had to be undertaken as a result of the fault.

A landslide had caused the disturbance in the Chandrapur Parli line, Nagtilak said and the entire state was affected as it generates a maximum of 1000 MW of power for Maharashtra. There will be loadshedding in the city and rural parts till the line is restored, he added.

Loadshedding was increased by an hour for all the areas that fall in the categories- group A, B and C. The power supply from Tata Power Company was also to the tune of 91 MW and hence loadshedding had to be implemented. The shortfall is estimated to be around 135MW.
