Surat, March 5 A six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a teenager in Puna village on Monday night. The girl was lured by the boy when she was playing outside her house, according to a complaint filed by the victim.

The police said the boy (16), a textile labourer and a resident of Om Shanti Bhavan complex, allegedly lured the minor to the terrace of the building and raped her.

After the girl informed her father about the incident, he searched for the accused and questioned him. The girl’s family also lodged a complaint with the Kapodara police, after which he was arrested. He reportedly confessed to the crime during interrogation.

The police took the boy and the victim to the New Civil Hospital for a medical check up on Wednesday morning.

Inspector M R Chavda said: “We have also requested the doctors to verify the age of the accused. He had come to Surat seven months ago and was working as a cutting man in a textile firm on the Ring Road.”
