Pune Left out of sixth pay commission

The federation of tehsildars and naib tehsildars has threatened the district administration to go on mass leave from February 18 as the sixth pay commission does not benefit the revenue department and those in the posts of tehsildars, naib tehsildar, circle officer and additional commissioner.

The federation — comprising members from 22 departments of the district administration — has stated that they will stop doing non-revenue duties like issuing domicile certificates, voters list compilation and also monitoring citizen facilitation centres.

They worked till Wednesday and on Thursday, these officers took a day’s leave and in a statement said that they will not hesitate to go on an indefinite common leave if the government fails to address their issue.

The decision is likely to hamper work at the collector’s office and the office of the revenue department as the revenue officers are involved in non-revenue works at both the places. Many non-revenue works at the general administration department, cooperative, rural development, food and urban supply, schemes are done by the revenue officers.

Members of the federation said that all the members working in all these departments have stopped doing all non-revenue works.

The federation decision will hamper works related to issuing domicile certificates, voters list compilation, monitoring citizen facilitation centres, various surveys under rural development, distribution of work of rationing items, issuing cast creamy layer certificates, ration cards and works relating to the agriculture sector and health drives.
