Chandigarh, February 16 The telemedicine project linking the GMCH-32 with the PGIMER, Chandigarh, was inaugurated by UT Administrator S F Rodrigues today. He also expressed the need to connect five polyclinics and dispensaries to GMCH-32 to extend the specialist care to patients.

The facility would be further upgraded making it possible for the GMCH faculty to interact with other medical institutes of repute in the country. The facility has been made possible with the help of 3 ISDN lines provided by BSNL and implemented in collaboration with CDAC Mohali through in-house, indigenously developed ‘Sanjeevani’ software.

Director PGIMER Prof KK Talwar, Telemedicine Department head Prof SK Jindal, and Prof Meenu Singh who were present at PGI at the other end of the video link attended the inauguration of the telemedicine project.

Students and faculty will benefit immensely as they will have access to various academic activities of PGIMER. Doctors at GMCH-32 will also be able to share their experience with their colleagues at PGI.
