Ahmedabad Amid fresh intelligence inputs on the possibility of another sea-borne terror attack from the west coast, Gujarat Minister of State for Home Amit Shah has convened high-level meetings of all senior police officers in the state.

Officers of all the seven police ranges and four police commissionerates will meet Shah at the Circuit House in Gandhinagar over the next two weeks.

The minister’s decision to meet all the senior police officers comes a day after Union Home Minister P Chidambram said that the governments of Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra should take additional precautions following the intelligence input.

All police ranges and commissionerates in the state were intimated about the schedule of meetings through faxes on Thursday.

In the first meeting, scheduled for Sunday, Shah will meet officers of Vadodara and Surat ranges.

“Officers of the rest of the ranges and four commissionerates will meet the minister on Friday, Saturday and Sunday next week,” an official of the state Home Department said on condition of anonymity.

The officer added: “Unlike other routine meetings that are called to review the law and order situation in the state, these meetings are being held unit wise, wherein the minister will meet officers of a particular range and commissionerate separately.”
