After 99 successful shows in India and abroad in less than two years, Black and White comes back to its hometown to bring its success to a full circle, with its 100th show

Almost a year-and-a-half has passed since they first staged their show Black and White in Pune. Now when the show has traveled across the globe and is back in the city with a bag full of accolades, Pune again will relive the golden era of Hindi films through a collage of performance on screen and stage.

As Black and White that was launched in the city by Pune based Niche Entertainment on March 31, comes back home after 99 successful shows in India and abroad, the joy of the team of seven knows no bounds. And when they are home for a special reason the homecoming ceremony gets as grand as it could. In their own city to bring the success of the show to a full circle Black and White’s hundredth show will be staged at the same place from where it kick started its eventful journey.

“We are in the city to celebrate our achievement. We started from scratch from here and now we have toured more than five countries with the show,”says Milind Oak, director.

The show whose presentation format is reminiscent of the bygone era has an uncanny resemblance to stage musicals where singers act the characters. The performance touches the finer aspects of the era through the medium of music, pictures, movie clips, anecdotes and trivia. An instant hit in the UK, ,Black and White had to make two different trips to meet the demand. “ We already toured the country with the show in October 2007 and within six months we were called again on public demand,” says Oak.

The artistes of the show vouch for the exclusivity of it. “ People find it interesting because they aren’t standalone and static performances. The show is based on that golden era of Hindi films from 1945 to 1968 when melody was queen. But melody with acting adds to the charm of the show,” says Swarada Godbole, singer and performer

"After the success of our shows, Gulzar- Baat Pashmine Ki', and Bhairav Se Bhairavi, Black and White is our third baby.” adds Oak. The show has Hrishikesh Ranade, Vibhavari Joshi, Jitendra Abyankar and Swarada Godbole as singers and Rahul Solapurkar as anchor. Black and White will be touring Canada in July and August

(Black and White will be staged on February 28 at Yashwantrao Chavan Auditorium at 9.30 pm)
