Rajinderpal, the teacher, takes a detour to rapping!

Imagine taking English lessons in a club, with a mix a Punjabi-English House music playing to the max and your ‘teacher’ waving at you from the console. Wouldn’t we all love going to school? “Believe me, a good rapport is what helps best in a student-teacher relationship,” tells Chandigarh lad MC Radz/ RP and formally Rajinder Pal Singh- US hip hop and R n B singer, songwriter, MC, DJ and an international English teacher.

‘Quite a mix!’, one’s bound to say. “I was a folk Punjabi singer before I left for Turkey three years back,” tells the 25 year old who also “performed Kirtan. Music’s in my blood, My grandfather was into a lot of religious and commercial music.” Rajinder’s tale of music is full of tours and detours. “I was planning to be an engineer and turned out to be a Financial Advisor. Being a part of CIPA since childhood, I was always performing, be it singing or dancing.”

Teaching English to students of six to 60 years of age, he travelled across Poland and Turkey. The European house, trance, electro sounds brought music back to his mind. What followed were DJing and club performances, where being a Punjabi helped. “People all over know the Punjabi sounds. Currently working on his first album, Rajinderpal tells that it’s a Indo-Polish collaboration. “Alchemist Project and ‘Kalwi and Remi’s are among the best European music composers. The album will be released shortly in Poland.” While apna Bharat will have to wait for that, the rapper does plan to open an academy in Chandigarh soon. “I want people to have a feeling of what real house music sounds like!” Gear up listeners!
