Flight Lieutenant (retired) S S Yadav, Mohalla’s neighbour in the Air Force and Naval Officers Enclave in Dwarka Sector-7 refused to believe it.
“He and his family are all known as soft-spoken people,” Yadav, vice president of the colony’s RWA, said.
“Any aggressive behaviour has not been observed by us ever since the family moved here; we are shocked.”
Mohalla, a chartered accountant, lives with his parents and wife in flat number 662. His father, Air Commodore (retired) Ashok Kumar, had earlier refused to comment on the matter. He could not be contacted till late in the night.
When Newsline visited the flat, it was locked. Neighbours said the family was out since afternoon.
Mohalla has been charged with sections 336 (endangering life or personal safety of others) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC, as well as under the provisions of the Civil Aviation Act, 1982.
A city court on Monday sent him to judicial custody till February 16.
After the scare, the plane was kept at an isolated bay of the IGI Airport for nearly five hours.
Later, the 41-year-old chartered accountant was held with two fellow passengers, Harpreet Anand and Samir Uppal, who were let off after questioning.
