Sukham Ayu, an ayurvedic cook book promises a healthy dining experience

With fast paced lifestyles plaguing the youth and the working populace of the nation, the attitude of most of them has also veered towards a faster cooking regime. Instant foods are fast replacing the age old home cooked meals, and microwave cooked meals holding a sharp edge over the traditional methods of cooking on a gas range or the humble earthen stove, the health of most of these working professionals is going for a toss.

It is here that Sukham Ayu, an Ayurvedic cookbook comes as a whiff of fresh air for both, fast paced professionals and people who have been following unhealthy eating habits for long and wish to bring about a change in it.

Speaking more about the book, Dr Prakash Kalmadi says, "The book is basically an amalgamation of various recipes, which are prepared using Ayurvedic herbs and plants. Along with the recipes there are also useful tips regarding eating healthy eating habits that one needs to practice to ensure that the body stays in good shape."

The book contains recipes on various Indian preparations Dr. Kalmadi says, "The book lists recipes right from various Indian breads, soups, dals, rice, snacks right up to herbal teas that one can drink. In fact, there are different types of tea, for ,instance there is the Arjun Tea that is specifically made for heart patients. The tea comprises of the Arjun herb which has been proven to be instrumental in fighting the plaque deposition on arteries and reducing the cholesterol levels in the arteries."

The book was compiled especially keeping the Indian reader in mind. As many people are still apprehensive about these techniques the book has been written in a simple way to promote the idea of using Ayurvedic food techniques in our day-to-day lives, the details for which, have been compiled by Dr Roli Rangappa. Moreover the preparations, i.e. recipes are explained in detail with the reason behind using a particular herb or spice being mentioned for the user to understand it well," he adds.

With the market flooded with an array of cookery books the customer is spoilt for choices and options. Explaining his stance on it he says, "This is one of the first books in the market which not only promotes healthy eating but also gives reasons as to why the concepts should be incorporated into our lifestyles," says Dr Kalmadi with a smile.

The book is available at major bookstores across the nation for a price of Rs 495.
