Senior policemen and Education department officials including the president of the United Education Society, Manhar Shah, said the responsibility of security of Daksha Amin (32), from Tala Savli in Lunawada taluka, was taken up by the trust.

However, there is an absolute incongruity of statements made by Amin and Shah. While Shah acknowledges the problem, he said that Amin and the school principal, Amrish Purshottam Patel, had an ego clash; Amin alleges mental and physical harassment.

“She took a step further and made those allegations. She is also having an affair with school clerk Rajendra Gadhvi. Although Patel had asked for a verbal apology, she refused and filed a case against him,” added Shah. Gadhvi is also a witness in the case.

Lunawada Deputy Superintendent of Police, A R Upadhyay said that Amin lodged an atrocity complaint against Patel and seven others including a local legislator, Jetha Bharwad, as she claimed that she belonged to a Scheduled Tribe.

“The case is still in the court but Principal Amrish Patel and two other accused were arrested and later released on bail,” added Upadhyay. The officer added that the matter was more of a political nature and stemmed out of an ego clash between Patel and Amin.

Officials from Kothamda police station, where the case was registered, said the complaint had been lodged eight months ago in April.

“We had told Daksha Amin to return to her duty, but she refused,” said a police officer.

On the other hand, Rajendra Gadhvi said that Amrish Patel and a clerk, Vijay Patel, had constantly threatened them not to appear in the hearing at the Gujarat High Court.

Amin said she is not ready to go to Navjeevan High School even if the police accord her protection.
