Panchkula In yet another case of theft reported from Panchkula, thieves struck at the Venkateshwara Swami temple (also known as Balaji temple) in Sector 12A late on Thursday night and decamped with cash and jewellery worth nearly Rs 1.5 lakh. Interestingly, the temple is only a few meters away from the official transit accommodation for Haryana ministers and MLAs.

“It was in the morning that we found the lock of the main entrance door to the temple broken. Cash and jewellery worth Rs 1.5 lakh was missing. The theft comes at a time when the proposal to install closed circuit television (CCTV) cameras in the temple was in the pipeline,” said the manager of the temple, K P Sarathi. A team of forensic experts reached the spot later in the day.

The police have registered a case of theft in the matter and started investigations.
