The Rashtriya Sattoti Haud Mandal Trust of Kasba Peth will showcase unconventional energy resources on Ganeshotsav this year. Volunteers of the trust, in association with students of Vishwakarma Institute of Technology (VIT) and Modern Technical Centre, are in the process of making energy instruments that will be put on display.

There will be 11 stalls displaying instruments like cycle flour mill, cycle air compressor, cycle home generator, gym generator, swing irrigation pump, tomato tea juicer and battery-operated water pump. An audio-visual show to spread the message of conservation of water will also be on the display. The exhibition will start from September 12.

“The trust is celebrating 76th year of its inception. It is a tradition of the trust to take up socially relevant activities during Ganesh festival. This time we thought to promote unconventional energy resources,” said Sandeep Bangar, president of the trust.

“Visitors will get to see a demonstration of the instruments. They can handle these instruments and can even book them during the 10-day festival,” he said.

Vice-president of the trust Santosh Chavan said he along with VIT professors A M Moolchandani and Rambabu Vatti conceived the theme. “We took help of Chandrakant Pathak of Modern Technical Centre and VIT students to develop the instruments. We spent around Rs 2 lakh on the preparations,” he said.

Praveen Walimbe, senior volunteer of the trust, said he has been consistently doing socially relevant activities during Ganesh festival. “In the past we have carried out campaigns such as ‘Gutkhyala Zatka’ on de-addiction, distribution of Shree Dnyaneshwari, information about water supply during Peshwe era and seminars on various issues.”
