Vadodara To take on moral policing of Shri Ram Sene in a non-violent way, a group of women who call themselves “the consortium of pub going loose and forward women”, have initiated an online campaign called “pink chaddis” against the incident that took place in a Mangalore pub and the recent threat asking everyone not to celebrate Valentine’s Day. They feel women in this country have enough curbs on their lives without a whole new franchise (Sene) cashing in with their bully-boy tactics.

Under this campaign, the group has asked everyone to register on a community in Facebook through a blog and send pink chaddis (underwear) to the Ram Sene chief, Pramod Muthalik, at his home in Hubli, Karnataka, as a Valentine's Day gift on February 12, two days before V-Day.

Centres for collecting pink chaddis have been set up in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore from where they will be sent to Muthalik’s house. These will soon expand in various cities including a few in Gujarat.

The aim of this campaign is to object to the “irreverent demands made by the right-wing saffron group”. The Sene had objected to wearing pink and red on V-Day and has been threatening the shopkeepers to convince the people coming to their shop not to celebrate V-Day, as according to them, it is not a part of Indian culture.

One of the members of the group, Nithin Manayath, who is also a teacher at Mt Carmel College in Bangalore, said, “This is our way of showing love to the Sena members. The idea was mooted by one of my friends, Nisha Suzen, and a blog was created on February 5.” At present, there are around 1,500 members who have already registered with the on Facebook.

The blog (http://thepinkchaddicampaign.blogspot.com/ ) said that the idea is to send Sri Ram Sene some “love” this Valentine’s Day. The blog further asks those interested “to look in the closet or buy them dirt-cheap and send them off to Sene chief”.

Love Sena by Pub Bharo on 12 Feb 2009

Yes, We at Love Sena would not like Muthalik like people to talk about ethics or morality. Who are they to stop girls from going to bars with each new boy friend each day, having drugs, dancing in semi/full nud and enjoying night life followed by swallowing i-pills. We are the ones who spend money and provide jobs to alcohol, drug, contraceptive, medical industry(for emergency morning after pills, abortion pills), medical practitioners who are ready to abort such pregnancies. We know how to do all these with/without the assistance of law and we all know that media would not mind it as they use such methods to run their business. So we have support from all sides. We have media to support us by calling Muthalik's men as molesters and other names, though we could not see a single clip of their misbehaving with momen except for their violent ways(which Muthalik himself has condemned)What can that poor Muthalik and likes do.
