Three held for murder bid

Pune, February 22 A Pune Municipal Corporation worker Apurva Anna Kasbe (50), his wife Lata, daughter Bharati and son Abhishek (19), all residents of PMC colony in Ghorpadi were booked by the police for attempting to kill two youngsters in their neighbourhood following a dispute over playing around 8.30 pm on Thursday.

The victim, Atul Vasant Gaikwad (23) has lodged a complaint with the Khadak police station. Police said the accused had attacked Atul and his brother Amol (23) with swords.

Amol suffered severe injuries across the body and was admitted to Sassoon Hospital. Atul has lodged a complaint with the Khadak police station.

Police said Atul has been organising cricket tournaments in the PMC colony at Ghorpadi for years. Accordingly, he organised one such tourney on February 16. It was alleged that Atul restrained Abhishek from participating in the game. Owing to that, there was a dispute between them that turned violent, as Abhishek, along with his family members, attacked Atul and Amol Gaikwad with swords, cricket stumps and stones.

The Gaikwad brothers were treated at Sassoon Hospital. The police have arrested Apurva and Lata Kasbe, it was stated. Assistant police inspector D N Thackre is investigating.
