Anti-Narcotics Cell in-charge Sub-Inspector Tarlochan Singh said they had put up a check-post near Bawa White House chowk last night, with a view to check the activities of suspected elements and smuggling. During the drive, they signaled a Mahindra Scorpio, with Haryana registration numbers, coming from the Chandigarh side, to stop. A search of the three occupants led to the recovery of an unlicensed .32 bore made-in-Kanpur revolver and two live cartridges, Singh told Newsline. They were later sent to one-day police remand.
The arrested persons have been identified as Sachin Walia, a resident of Naraingarh, Ramesh Chand from Yamunanagar and Sachin Kumar from Saharanpur.
They have been booked under Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act. If the test on the powder is positive, relevant sections of the NDPS Act will also be added to the FIR, Singh added.
