Mumbai A 26-year-old youth was murdered in Govandi by three sword-wielding men allegedly over a past dispute involving drugs.

Deceased Ijaz Ismail Ansari, a resident of Kamla Raman slum at Bainganwadi in Govandi, had reportedly refused to give drugs to Mohd Raza Mohd Yunus Sheikh alias Kalya Papa who had borne a grudge against him ever since.

According to the complaint filed by Ansari’s wife Mehajabeen, the incident took place on Wednesday night. “That night, Sheikh and two other accomplices had chased Ansari inside the Mamta Welfare Society lane at Bainganwadi, where they had assaulted him with choppers and swords. They had slashed his wrists and left him bleeding. Later a police patrol van spotted him and he was rushed to the Rajawadi Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival,” said a police official from the Shivaji Nagar police station.

The police are on the lookout for Shaikh, his accomplice Aftab Noor Mohammed Siddiqui alias Chanu and one person nicknamed Mayiz.

No arrests have been made yet in the case. — ENS
