The police said that all the calls were made from an MTNL’s Dolphin mobile connection. The first call was received in October, 2008, during which the caller expressed his love to a woman attendant. Subsequently, in nearly ten calls he made, he said “I love you” to several other attendants. Initially, the attendants scolded the man and asked him to stop wasting their time, but later he grew bolder and started making about 200 calls per day, using obscene language.

“He used to disconnect the phone if a male attendant answered his calls. When things went out of control, the women personnel made an official complaint,” a senior police official said.

When cops tried to call back on the number, it either remained “out of service” or unanswered.
