Vadodara Mumbai-based Ratnanidhi Charitable Trust has organised a three day mass-level camp for the differently-abled and hearing impaired in the city. The camp, which has been funded by the Dhirajlal Ajmera Charitable Trust, aims to reach out to over 1,000 beneficiaries.

The Primary Education Board is also a co-organiser of the camp, which is a part of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan.

While the first day of the camp saw over 400 differently-abled people take the benefit, it has set its target at 1,000 beneficiaries.

“Under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan, the benefits were provided to school children up to class VII. From this year, however, it has been extended to everyone with orthopaedic and hearing disability,” said Mehul Zaveri, chairman, Primary Education Board.

The camp will provide aids to the differently-abled such as crutches, wheel chairs, tricycles and hearing aids among others.

The aids given out during the camp amount to Rs 15 lakh.

“Apart from medical teams, we also have provisions for providing the beneficiaries with Jaipur Foot. The engineer at the camp will provide the aids to the beneficiaries,” said Nanda Thakkar, Project Director, Ratnanidhi Charitable Trust.
