Three-day polio drive begins in city

Ludhiana, January 6 The district health department today began its three-day Pulse Polio Drive in the city to provide polio vaccination to over 5 lakh children in and around the city. The drive aims to focus on children in the suburban areas including the jhuggis and slum areas.

The drive was inaugurated by the Civil Surgeon SP Sharma at the Revamping Centre at Shivepuri by administering polio drops to the children. On the occasion, he informed that 1,850 polio booths had been installed at various key locations so that no child below three years was left out. In addition, as many as 100 mobile teams and 380 transit teams administered polio drops to the children at the bus stand and railway station.
