Three-day seminar on mental health underway

Ahmedabad A state-level seminar was organised on the rehabilitation of mentally-challenged people by the B M Institute of Mental Health, in collaboration with Rehabilitation Council, on Friday. K N Ojha, Chief Consultant of Sahara India, Lucknow, inaugurated the seminar and talked about behavioural problems like anxiety and hyperactivity, persuasive disorders and the like.

He said: “The participation level of Gujaratis in this field has increased remarkably as compared to what it was 20 years ago. It was not visible when I was the head of department of Clinical Psychology at B M Institute. This signifies the increase in acceptance level of mental health problems by the people.”

The three-day seminar will have national experts deliberating over issues like Autism, Attention Deficit Hyper Active

Disorder (ADHA) syndrome, Mental Illness, Cerebral Palsy, and Mental Retardation.

Experts will also discuss topics like the role of parents in the rehabilitation of mentally-challenged patients.

A panel discussion on new trends in the rehabilitation of mentally-challenged children will also be held.
