Thrilling win for LCA ‘Red’

Lucknow, January 6 LCA `Red’ registered a thrilling one wicket victory against Unity Academy in their league match of the 5th Panther’s Cup at NER Stadium here on Sunday.

Choosing to bat after winning the toss, Unity Academy scored 170 runs losing all its wickets in 39.2 overs. In reply, LCA `Red’ fought back hard and it romped home after attaining the set mark in 39.3 overs with just one wicket to spare.

NER Officers’ XI triumphs
NER Officers’ XI defeated Sales Tax Officers’ XI by 16 runs in a friendly match organised between the two at KD Singh ‘Babu’ Stadium here. DRM NER Ashima Singh presided over the closing function. While Sukhbir Singh and Haider Raza were adjudged `Best Bowler’ and `Best Batsman’,Dilip Srivastava was declared `Best Fielder’. Rajesh Kumar was adjudged `Best Allrounder’.

CAL emerges champ
CRICKET Association Lucknow (CAL) defeated Kanpur XI by six wickets in the final of the `Sir Vizzy Trophy’ State Invitation Cricket Tournament at DLW grounds, Varanasi on Sunday.
The closing function was held later in the day. Amit Singh of CAL and Awdhesh Mishra of Varanasi were declared `Best Batsman’ and ‘Best Bowler’, respectively.
