Rajkot, March 2 In a bizarre incident, a man, who was having an extra-marital affair, stabbed his wife to death and later tried to kill himself at Mota Khijadia village in Tankara taluka of Rajkot district on Sunday.

The couple’s four-year-old son, Anupam, witnessed the entire incident and informed neighbours, who rushed Narendrasinh Garasia, the accused, to a hospital. A preliminary investigation revealed that the incident occurred after the couple had a heated argument over Garasia’s affair.

The Rajkot Rural police said Garasia was brought to the Rajkot Civil Hospital with severe wounds on different parts of his body. He told the police that he injured himself after stabbing his wife to death.

The police said the body of Chetnaba (35) was found lying in a pool of blood at their residence. The preliminary reports indicated that she had received six wounds on various parts of the body, including her neck and abdomen. The postmortem report is awaited.

Chetnaba’s brother has registered a police complaint against Garasia. An offence of murder has been lodged against him.

The police said Garasia had an extra-marital affair. Chetnaba and her family, including her father and brother, had been trying to sort out the problem, but to no avail.

On the day of the incident, Chetnaba’s family had called the couple to their place to discuss the matter. But the two had a heated exchange just when they were to leave their house for the discussion, which later resulted into the murder.
