Lucknow Vibha Tiwari, wife of BSP MLA Shekhar Tiwari, whom the police want to interrogate in connection with the murder of PWD Executive Engineer M K Gupta, had tried to destroy evidence by getting the bloodstains cleaned and the floor mopped in Manoj Gupta’s house on December 24, the police have found.

Sources said these facts came to light during the interrogation of the arrested persons, including Tiwari and his three associates, Manoj Awas-thi, Vinay Tiwari, and Pooti.

Since Vibha has not reported to the police for questioning in spite of a notice being pasted at her residence, the police have now started looking for her. She is president of Dibiyapur nagar panchayat. “We will soon decide our next course of action,” said Additional Director General (Law and Order) Brij Lal. “The MLA has confessed of his involvement in the murder,” he added.

The police on Friday got orders from the court to attach the property of former BSP district president, Yogendra Kumar Dohre alias Bhatia, who is one of the accused and is currently absconding. The police have also announced a reward of Rs 2,500 for any information on Bhatia.

Raids are being conducted to trace former station officer of Dibiyapur police station, Hoshiyar Singh. The police have moved court for the attachment of his property.

The names of Tiwari’s drivers — Devendra Rajput and Santosh Tiwari — have also come up during the investigation. They were both present on the spot and the police are looking for them, sources said.
