Kolkata To tackle the impact of recession on IT industry, the state government will provide a stimulus package to the sector including creation of government jobs for IT professionals. Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharejee took the decision on the basis of proposals submitted to him by Information Technology Minister Debesh Das. "During the recession, engineering graduates are finding it difficult to get jobs. Hence the need for creating PG diploma courses in engineering so that the engineers can be enrolled there for a couple of years and do not hit the job market," said the first proposal. While the second proposal was for creation of government jobs at district and block levels for IT professionals, the third one was to expand e-governance to the grassroots and the fourth proposal was to provide e-connectivity of the state government to the gram panchayat level. The chief minister has asked his officials to initiate action in all the above spheres. The minister also recommended that the state government set up infrastructure like IT parks so that more professionals can be absorbed.
