Lucknow With the Lok Sabha polls round the corner, the BJP is leaving no stone unturned to lure the first-time voter ¿ the 18 to 25-year-olds, the cyber-savvy netizens.

Plans are on to launch three websites, which will not only provide information about party history and ideologies, but also host chats with the leaders — senior and junior ¿ and blogs by them. And the party’s youth wing, Bharatiya Janta Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has taken charge of reaching out to the youths and publicising the move.

The three new websites are being designed by the state party unit’s Soochna Prakosh-th (Information Wing). The designer o the websites and additional convenor of Information Wing, Mayank Awasthi, said these are just a few of the party’s initiatives.

“The young voters have a significant role to play in the forthcoming elections,” said the Kanpur-based Awasthi. “Our websites will not only talk about the illustrious legacy of the party, which has had leaders like Deen Dayal Upadhyaya and Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, but will also see present leaders like LK Advani and others interacting with the youngsters. Banking heavily on interactive mode, these websites are party’s tools for the netizen voter.”

The websites, which will be launched by Advani in New Delhi on February 11, will have a helpline as well, where youngsters can log in and send questions to senior leaders.

The task of publicising these websites is being handled by the BJYM.

Dayashankar Singh, the state president of the BJYM, said: “We have the voters’ lists of almost all districts and have details of the first-time voters. While meeting them, our district units will also be asking them to log onto the websites,” said Singh.

The wing will have its own website too, where Singh plans to be online for chats for at least 10 to 12 hours. “Even if anyone leaves a message for our leaders, we will try to get back within 24 hours,” he said. The party will be using SMS services and social networking sites for publicity as well.
