Kolkata, January 11 A division Bench of Chief Justice S S Nijjar and Justice Pinaki Chandra Ghose of the Calcutta High Court on Friday ruled that it will hear a land dispute case after two weeks, in which Kolkata-based businessman Ashok Todi is involved. The petitioner, advocate Rama Prasad Sarkar, had moved a plea alleging that the businessman had illegally occupied two plots in the Salt Lake area and constructed a house there.

The documents in the possession of Bidhannagar Municipality, however, showed that Todi has been staying in a rented house on the disputed land.

On November 6, 2007, the Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) had asked Todi to appear in a hearing to explain the status of the land.

But he was unable to attend the hearing as he was in New Delhi for a polygraph test conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for his alleged involvement in the Rizwanur Rehman death case.

State Advocate-General Bolai Roy, who was present in the court today, said that earlier the High Court had passed three orders on illegal land transfer in the Salt Lake area.
