Too late, Tanda medical college tightens security on campus

Dharamshala While the police are interrogating all the four accused for the murder of 19-year-old Aman Satya Kachru, the administration of Dr Rajindra Prasad Medical College, Tanda (Kangra), has taken various steps to stop ragging and improve the atmosphere on the college campus. Security measures in the hostel of first-year students have also been strengthened.

Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Dr Atul Fulzele said statements of more than i8 persons, including students of the college, have been recorded. The police have also taken samples of the victim’s handwriting from the college records. It would be matched with the written complaint given by -year-old Aman Satya Kachru before he died.

New principal of the college, Dr Anil Chauhan, said two security guards have been put on round-the-clock duty in the hostels. The process to install close-circuit cameras in the juniors hostels is also on, Chauhan said.

The principal said only those students who possess first-year identity cards would be allowed inside the hostel.

The principal said special sessions of Art of Living are being held in the college to help the students to cope with the environment after the incident. He said an association of parents and teachers would be formed soon and its meeting with the faculty would be held within a fortnight.

Besides, Health Minister Rajeev Bindal, accompanied by Principal Secretary (Health) Deepak Sanan visited the college and held a meeting with the college authorities and gave direction to improve the atmosphere.

Meanwhile, the NSUI held a demonstration on the college campus, demanding action against the college authorities.
