Varanasi, February 27 In an attempt to review the security situtation at the Kashi Vishwanath-Gyanwapi complex, the top brass of the state’s security establishment visited the high security complex on Wednesday. Following the visit, the quarterly meeting of the Standing Committee on Gyanwapi Security was also held in Varanasi.

A delegation led by D K Sharma, Additional Director General (ADG-Security) of UP Police, examined the two giant watchtowers.

“Everything in the security arrangements at the complex housing the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and the Gyanwapi mosque was up to the mark,” said Sharma.

He was accompanied by D C Vashishth, DIG (Varanasi Range), SSP S B Shirodkar and ASP Vikramaditya Sachar, who is also the in-charge of the security at the complex. This visit comes ahead of the Mahashivaratri festival on March 5.
