Kolkata A trader was murdered late on Monday night in Dankuni of Hooghly district. According to a police officer, Pradip Misra (30), who owned a business of nuts and bolts, went missing since yesterday morning. Late in the night a body was spotted near the Bombay jheel at Raghunathpur in Dankuni, which was identified later as that of Misra’s.

According to preliminary investigation, he had strangulation marks on his neck. Two persons have been detained for interrogation. “Prima facie we can say that it is a case of homicide. Apparently, the victim had been strangulated. However, we are waiting for the postmortem reports,” said Satyajit Banerjee, Superintendent of Police, Hooghly.

Banerjee said: “We are not ruling out business rivalry as the motive behind the murder. We are investigating all possible angles.”
